Weight loss remedies and Belviq

Navigating the world of weight loss can be overwhelming. There are a ton of products on the market that claim to help individuals lose weight, but how many of them work? Herbal or all-natural remedies, over-the-counter diet pills, weight loss prescription medications, exercise plans, and weight loss programs have flooded the market all claiming to be the next big thing. Despite their claims, individuals are wise to be cautious when choosing the program to help them lose those unwanted pounds and inches from their waist.

Obesity rates in America

Over the last century, the American lifestyle has changed dramatically. Homes where families once sat down to have dinner together with home cooked meals have now become quick trips through drive-thrus or microwaved dinners from a box. To say that the average American’s diet is an unhealthy one is probably an understatement. Sugar, salt, fat, and oil content has skyrocketed, and with the ease of purchasing pre-cooked meals and sedentary lifestyles, there’s no wonder that our waistline has expanded.

A whopping 30% of Americans are estimated to be clinically obese today despite the overabundance of weight management products available. Entire communities are plagued by heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer, all of which can be linked to poor diet and exercise.

Effective weight loss medications

The names of several weight loss medications as well as programs probably come to mind when you are considering treatment. While some of the most popular regimens can be very helpful, they often only work while eating the foods sold by the program. Once an individual has lost the amount they originally wanted, and they go back to eating normally, many find themselves gaining weight once again. Sadly, programs that require you to purchase meals don’t educate patients on how to maintain their new look.

For a weight loss program to be effective, it must address several issues. Some medical conditions, such as diabetes or certain thyroid conditions, can increase the amount of weight a person gains. Controlling these issues are an important part of any weight loss regimen. Changing behavior is another.

When patients learn how to make healthier choices that include tasty meals, they often find that keeping the weight off is easier. Especially when an appropriate exercise program is added, not only does routine exercise promote weight loss, but it also helps to build strong bones and leaner muscles.

A healthy diet and exercise program are just a portion of what it takes for an overweight individual to get fit. Often individuals, especially those who are obese, need something to start them on their journey.

Weight loss prescription medications have been around for decades. Some are anorexiants (appetite suppressants) while others inhibit the absorption of fat. Regardless of which type of medicine you are taking, patients should seek the advice of a qualified medical professional.

What is Belviq?

Belviq is a weight loss treatment for adults who are overweight with weight-related medical conditions. The active ingredient in Belviq, Lorcaserin, helps to make you feel full by targeting a hunger receptor in the brain. Chemical messengers called neurotransmitters stimulate the brain and tell us that we need to eat. Serotonin, another neurotransmitter, makes us feel full. Belviq makes the brain produce more of the chemicals that encourage the full feeling while eating less and promoting weight loss.

Forty-seven percent of the adults who took Belviq lost 5% or more of their body weight during the first year compared to those who used diet and exercise alone. These results have helped to prove that Belviq is an effective medication for weight loss.

As with many medications, some side effects can be attributed

Belviq Side Effects

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation

Phentermine

Trying to lose weight can be hard, especially with all the unhealthy choices we are surrounded by every day. With the fast-paced lifestyle, we all seem to be living and the ease of running through a drive through, there is no wonder that the American waistline is ever increasing. Approximately 30% of the American population is obese, and that number is forecasted to increase again this year. As our waistline grows, so does the number of obesity-related illnesses and deaths. However, despite these dire predictions, there is hope.

The weight loss industry as a whole was estimated to be a $64 billion market just a few short years ago. Weight loss clinics, exercise programs, and diet pills have flooded the market with everything from nutritional programs to fat shrinking medications and everything in between, there is no excuse not to lose weight and get healthy today.

If you’re like most people, it may be hard to know where to turn and which products are best for your situation. That’s where EZCare Clinic comes in. Our caring and discrete professionals are dedicated to working with you to find the right weight management combination that will help you shed those pounds, get fit, and healthy.

Types of programs for weight loss

Weight loss programs types

Several WL programs jump out at you when you begin surfing the net. Most of these programs are paid subscriptions and require you to follow a complicated regime that may work as long as you are on the program. However, once it is discontinued, most find that the pounds they once lost find their way back as well as bringing a few with them.

Then, of course, countless exercise programs offer to slim, trim and beautify you in record time. But if you were able to do all those push-ups and sit-ups on your own you wouldn’t be looking for help now, would you? Now that’s not to say exercising isn’t needed. It is, in fact, exercise and a healthy diet are key to keeping you healthy, fit, and trim.

If you’re like most people, before you can throw yourself headlong into an exercise program, you need to jump start your weight loss. But what’s the safest and easiest way to do this? The first thing anyone who is looking to shed a significant amount of pounds should do is see a doctor.

Obesity can cause other health issues than just pounds. Diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease are all common among individuals who are overweight. A medical doctor needs to evaluate your health and address any issues before beginning any weight loss program.

Phentermine

During your medical examination, your doctor will evaluate your health. Included will be a discussion of the things that have led to your weight and how to avoid those issues. The doctor will make several suggestions, including seeking the advice of a nutritionist as well as advising how to choose an effective exercise regime. Finally, your doctor will most likely prescribe a weight loss medication to aid you in your journey.

Phentermine was first approved by the FDA in 1959 as a short-term appetite suppressant for obesity and is the most widely prescribed weight loss medication on the market today. It is designed to help an individual lose weight by decreasing appetite and boosting energy. The active ingredient, phentermine hydrochloride is a central nervous system stimulate much like an amphetamine making it a controlled substance and only available by prescription. Because of the risk of abuse and dependence, this medication is typically only prescribed for no more than twelve weeks at a time.

When used as prescribed, phentermine is safe and well-tolerated. However, as with all medications, it can produce unwanted side effects and is not appropriate for everyone.

Phentermine side effects

Phentermine side effects:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Itching
  • Dry mouth; unpleasant taste
  • Diarrhea, constipation, stomach cramps
  • Increased or decreased interest in sex

Although this is not a complete list, any reaction should be reported to your physician. For signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongues, seek emergency medical help immediately.

Overdoses of phentermine can be fatal. The signs of an overdose can include confusion, panic, hallucinations, extreme restlessness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, feeling tired or depressed, irregular heartbeat, weak pulse, seizure, slowed breathing or breathing stops.

Phentermine prescription and diet plan

While phentermine has been proven to be very useful for the treatment of obesity, it should only be used for a short term and while under the care of a medical doctor. At EZCare Clinic, our staff has been trained to work with you to meet your weight loss and healthcare goals. Not only do we offer the prescriptions, but we are also dedicated to seeing you through your journey with continued support and additional therapies as needed.

Contrave or Saxenda better for weight loss

Trying to lose weight in California can be especially hard for individuals who have other medical conditions such as diabetes. While some patients had diabetes before becoming overweight, others gained weight as a result of obesity. Since these two issues can be related to one another, it is important that patients who want to begin a weight loss program understand how their medications work. While there are several products on the market designed for weight loss, Contrave and Saxenda are among the most popular prescriptions available.

Contrave

Contrave is an anorexiant (appetite suppressant) that contains a combination of bupropion and naltrexone. Bupropion is an anti-depressant that can suppress the appetite, whereas naltrexone is usually given to block the effects of narcotics or alcohol in patients who have an addiction. Naltrexone has also been found to be effective in curbing hunger and food cravings.

Contrave side effects

Like all medications, Contrave can cause unwanted side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, or sleep problems such as insomnia. Because this is not a complete list, other side effects may occur. Emergency help should be sought if signs of an allergic reaction occur, such as:

  • Fever
  • Swollen glands
  • Mouth sores
  • Muscle or joint pains
  • Hives
  • Rash or itching
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat

Saxenda

Saxenda - injectable weight loss medicine

Saxenda is an injectable medicine that may help some adults lose excess weight, and that also have weight-related medical problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. This medication should be used with a reduced calorie meal plan and increased physical activity.

Saxenda mimics the hormone GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide) that, in part, tells the brain that you are full. This medicine also works to help beta cells normalize blood sugars as well. Beta cells are responsible for making and releasing insulin when the blood sugar is high, helping those with type 2 diabetes to keep their levels reasonable.

Saxenda side effects

Saxenda may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Possible thyroid tumors including cancer
  • Pancreatitis
  • Low blood sugar
  • Gall bladder issues
  • Increased heart rate
  • Kidney failure
  • Depression or thoughts of suicide

Common Saxenda side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Low blood sugar
  • Decreased appetite
  • Upset stomach
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Stomach pain
  • changes in enzyme levels in the blood

These symptoms, especially nausea, should decrease over time as the body gets used to the medication. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.

Effects on diabetes

Effects of Contrave and Saxenda on diabetes

Diabetes is one of those medical conditions that must be taken into consideration whenever taking a new medication or beginning another treatment program. Individuals who are overweight or are obese are especially prone to complications in their disease. While some medicines may make the blood sugar rise, others do the opposite and make it fall, both of which can be dangerous.

In some cases, the change in blood sugar levels fluctuates so much that individuals are in danger of passing out and slipping into a coma. Special care should always be taken to prevent either of these from happening. While Contrave isn’t approved for treating diabetes, individuals who have diabetes should seek the advice of their medical doctor before beginning this or any other treatment.

Saxenda was approved as a weight loss medication in 2012 after researchers discovered that patients who took Victoza lost weight. Victoza is used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes. Saxenda and Victoza are the same medications but at different dosages that are marketed under different names.

Weight loss treatment for patients with diabetes in San Francisco

Individuals who are concerned with both weight loss and diabetes should consult their physician regarding Saxenda. While it may not be an appropriate substitute for other diabetes medications, patients using Saxenda may see an improvement in their blood sugar numbers. On the other hand, Contrave will not treat any weight-related medical condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.

As with any diet or exercise plan, a medical doctor should be consulted before beginning any treatment. At EZCare Clinic, our expert staff has one goal in mind, making sure all your medical needs are addressed. Not only do we employ knowledgeable medical doctors, but also experts who specialize in weight loss programs, nutrition, and dieting, as well as professionals who can address the emotional aspects of overeating.
